In February of 2023, a catastrophic series of earthquakes struck in both Syria and Turkey, killing over 51,000 people, destroying 214,000 buildings and homes, and affecting over 18 million people. There is still much work to be done.

Disasters Emergency Committee charities and their local partners were among the first responders on the ground in February. They are continuing to provide aid including medical care, shelter, food, water, blankets and heating.
