Rock & Brews Restaurants have teamed up with Def Leppard and Seattle-based Elysian Brewing Company to introduce Def Leppard Pale to their customers and are offering fans a chance to win tickets to see Def Leppard on tour this year.

Known for handcrafted American food, a mix of more than 100 craft and classic styles of beer on tap and in bottles, and their authentic rock-inspired, family-friendly atmosphere, Rock & Brews Restaurants throughout the United States will be the first restaurant brand to offer Def Leppard Pale. In celebration, Rock & Brews Restaurants have a variety of promotions planned, including an opportunity for fans to win tickets to see Def Leppard on tour in many Rock & Brews’ markets, as well as a chance to win a trip for two to see the band in Los Angeles on October 7, 2018.

“Rock & Brews celebrates everything that is rock and roll and is the perfect place for fans to indulge themselves with a cold Def Leppard Pale,” said Joe Elliott, lead singer of Def Leppard.

Def Leppard Pale was brewed by Elysian Brewing Company in partnership with Def Leppard to fuse the infamous malt bodies of British ales with the mysteria of Pacific Northwest hops. The launch of the beer was timed to coincide with the Def Leppard 2018 tour.

Joe Elliott Featured in Los Angeles Times

Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott on music critics, streaming services and why you can’t be a real punk rocker unless you’re from Britain

Over a four-decade career as lead singer for Def Leppard, Joe Elliott has sung about sugar, passion killers, hypnosis, “magical mysteria,” pyromania, being brought to his knees by love and riding on a nightmare machine.

But until recently, Elliott and band, which formed in Sheffield, England, in the late ’70s, didn’t think much of music streaming.

Long after holdouts Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Metallica and AC/DC remastered and unlocked their music, Def Leppard steadfastly refused to cave until it was able to negotiate what the band considered equitable compensation from Universal Music.

The two sealed a deal late last year, and soon after, the band’s music shot to the top of the rock charts as though this were 1983. Since then, sticky-sweet rock songs such as “Rock of Ages,” “Photograph” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me” — which remain staples on heartland FM rock stations — have earned millions of streams.

40 years today…

“WOW It’s 40 years today since we played our first ever gig at Westfield school in Sheffield! Holy crap !! Our 50 minute set was all originals until we encored with Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak” !!!!

We were paid approx. £5  from a teacher and we also smuggled beer in via the bass drum case to calm our nerves..

Steve’s amp was also on “standby” when we first went on so when he threw the big opening Pete Townsend windmill at the top off the set, nothing came out !!! …. whoops !!! …” – Joe

Johnnie launches the Radio 2 Rock Show!

Featuring the greatest rock from across the decades to 2018’s new releases, Johnnie will curate an hour of the best rock ever heard on Radio 2.

The Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne kicks off the ‘Rock God’ feature. Each week on the show we’ll be asking some of the biggest and most influential rock names to pick their own ‘Rock God’. This week – Ozzy reveals who he looks up to in the rock world and tells us why.

As the lead singer of Black Sabbath, Ozzy’s legend in music is virtually unrivalled. Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham in 1968 and were originally called The Polka Tulk Blues Band before becoming Black Sabbath in 1969. They are often referred to as the pioneers of heavy metal. In 1979, Ozzy was fired from Sabbath and went solo, releasing the incredible ‘Blizzard of Ozz’ the following year. Ozzy continued his often controversial and tumultuous solo career, producing influential rock albums such as 1983’s ‘Bark at the Moon’ and ‘No More Tears’ in 1991. In November 2011, it was announced Ozzy would rejoin Sabbath for an album and final world tour titled, ‘The End’. The band played their last show together in Birmingham in 2017.

As well as rock legends, Johnnie will also bring you his ultimate A-Z of Rock; an indispensable, bitesize guide to the genre in a handy alphabetical order and we’ll delve into the archives to bring you a flavor of them too. Where else would we start but ‘A’? So many incredible artists and bands begin with ‘A’ but there’s only really one we could play on the first Radio 2 Rock Show. Make sure you’re listening to find out which explosive ‘A’ Johnnie will pick…
