Def Leppard to Headline Opening Night of Summerfest

via OnMilwaukee

The 2025 Summerfest lineup continues to roll out, and on Thursday, we learned who will rock the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on the opening night of next year’s festival.

Rock legends Def Leppard will headline the opening night of Summerfest 2025, officials announced Thursday. The band is set to perform at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on June 19th, joined by special guests Tesla.

The show will mark Def Leppard’s eighth performance on Summerfest’s main stage, with their first appearance dating back to 1996. The announcement makes them the fifth act confirmed for the amphitheater’s 2025 lineup.

Def Leppard have been touring cosistently for over four decades, but that doesn’t mean they’ve remained stagnant. They recently released a song called “Just Like 73” with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello this past June, and they have played Milwaukee as recently as 2022, when they took over American Family Field. Tesla also released a new EP, “All About Love,” on Black Friday.

Tickets for Def Leppard and Tesla will go on sale Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. through Summerfest.com and Ticketmaster. Each ticket includes same-day admission to the festival. Summerfest Insiders will have early access to a presale on Tuesday, Dec. 17th, beginning at 10 a.m. Insiders are encouraged to check their email that morning for an access code.

Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, and Nickelback to Headline Boardwalk Rock Festival Debut

Ocean City, Maryland, is gearing up for an unforgettable weekend of rock as the inaugural Boardwalk Rock Festival debuts May 17-18, 2025.

The two-day event will bring together some of the biggest names in rock history alongside contemporary favorites, headlined by Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Nickelback, and Shinedown.

For fans of rock history, the lineup is a dream come true. Def Leppard, whose classic albums Pyromania and Hysteria spawned multiple Billboard Hot 100 hits, including “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Love Bites,” remain a dominant force in arena rock.

Joining them is Mötley Crüe, who made a mark on the Billboard 200 with Dr. Feelgood, their first album to reach No. 1, thanks to iconic tracks like “Kickstart My Heart” and the title track. Nickelback, a staple of modern rock with chart-toppers like “How You Remind Me” (a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit in 2001), will also headline, bringing their anthems to the boardwalk.

Rounding out the headliners is Shinedown, a consistent presence on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs Chart, with 18 No. 1 hits, including their enduring single “Second Chance.”

Beyond the headliners, the festival’s stacked lineup includes Halestorm, whose album The Strange Case Of… peaked in the top 15 on the Billboard 200 and earned the band a Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. Alice Cooper, a pioneer of shock rock, will add his theatrical flair, having previously charted with hits like “Poison” on the Billboard Hot 100. Other notable acts include Bush, Chevelle, Three Days Grace, and Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm.

The festival will feature three stages—two on the beach and one on the iconic Ocean City boardwalk—offering fans a scenic and immersive experience. The event also includes access to the boardwalk’s restaurants, bars, and shops, along with Jolly Roger at the Pier amusement park, home to a Ferris wheel, double-decker carousel, roller coaster, and more.

Vault Comics blends music and comics in ‘Def Leppard Hysteria’ #0 FCBD Special

via AIPT

Vault Comics has revealed their Free Comic Book Day offering for next year, and it’s Def Leppard Hysteria #0 FCBD Special. The special focuses on the origin of the world’s most dangerous guitar.

“Blending music and comics together like this is an incredible and insane dream, and I could not be more thrilled by the work Eliot, Alex, and Vault have put into Hysteria. It has been a joy and one hell of a ride. I know fans are going to love it,” said Phil Collen, Def Leppard guitarist.

Co-writer Eliot Rahal said, “From the very beginning, before we had anything, this story felt big. Phil came to us with a vision, a ton of passion, and the word ‘Hysteria’—something that has a lot of history for the band. It’s something that carries a lot of meaning. A legacy. And in many ways, that’s what this story is about. The Vault team  worked with me tirelessly to help create a framework to capture that spirit. Then… as the team assembled and the art came in… I saw the idea take shape in real-time, and the weight of the project became even more real. I put everything I had into this book because it was clear to me that everyone else also had as well. I’ll be forever grateful for being a part of this project.”

Check out the cover and a preview below.
“As a Midwestern native raised on rock and roll and a musician from a family of musicians, Foz and Darkside’s story has come to mean a lot to me,” added illustrator Alex Schlitz. ”The opportunity to work on this book with Def Leppard has been not only a huge honor, but such an exhilarating treat. I’m so grateful to be part of the team bringing this story to life, and I’ve had such a blast working with Eliot, Phil, and Fabi to create this world. I’m excited for everyone else to finally get to come on the journey with us!”

Check out a preview below.

When Foz, the frontwoman of indie band Darkside, inherits her father’s estate, it comes with a guitar she half-remembers from her childhood. The guitar speaks to her, promising fame and success. Soon, it delivers. But when Darkside’s equipment is stolen at a massive music venue, just before they’re set to take the stage with Def Leppard, Foz goes on the warpath to get it back. A knuckle-dusting rampage ensues, and the guitar’s true history is revealed.
